Reddit user ThrowRACakeDay shared a post on the "AITA" subreddit about an incident that happened at her recent birthday celebration. In the post, she mentioned that she doesn't like chocolate cake, but her husband and closest friends all do.
While she might take a bite if someone insists that she has some, she generally doesn't like it. However, her husband always wants to get her birthday cake every year.
ThrowRACakeDay said she doesn't trust him to know what she likes and has tried to get her own cake in previous years, but it has become a huge problem that makes her husband moody all day. In recent years, the only time she had a cake she liked was when her mother-in-law made her a lemon drizzle cake.
For this year's birthday celebration, ThrowRACakeDa had her birthday dinner at a restaurant with her friends. At the end of the night, the waitress brought out a huge chocolate fudge cake and began singing "Happy Birthday."
ThrowRACakeDa was irritated instantly, and after they finished singing, she asked them to take the cake back and package it up for her guests. ThrowRACakeDa feels that it's reasonable for her to get a cake flavor that she enjoys on her birthday, which only happens once a year.
However, her husband is now upset with her and claims that she embarrassed him in front of their friends and the entire restaurant. She asked the subreddit if she was the a-hole in this situation.
Here are the responses from the community.

u/ThrowRACakeDayWhat Do You Think?
In any relationship, it is important to consider and respect the preferences and feelings of your partner. This is especially true when it comes to important events or celebrations, such as birthdays, where small gestures of consideration can mean a lot.
When one partner consistently ignores or disregards the other's preferences, it can cause feelings of frustration, resentment, and hurt. This can ultimately erode trust and intimacy within the relationship.
By making an effort to understand and consider our partner's preferences, we can create a more harmonious, loving, and fulfilling relationship. What do you think?
