A woman experiences severe distress after undergoing what was supposed to be a routine lip filler procedure.
A woman has found herself in excruciating pain after undergoing what was supposed to be a routine lip filler operation. The procedure, intended to enhance her appearance, took a drastic turn when the blood supply to her mouth was unexpectedly cut off, leading to serious complications and distress.
A woman has revealed how a routine lip filler procedure left her fighting for her life in hospital.Nutritionist Barbara Martiniano, 27, from Brazil, has warned others after she was left in agony from the filler, which cut off the blood supply to her mouth.
"I never anticipated that such a routine procedure could lead to such severe complications," Barbara shared with local media.
"I assumed that since I was getting it done at a clinic located in a well-known shopping center and part of a national franchise, I would receive professional treatment."
Barbara revealed that she had thoroughly researched the procedure before making the decision to go through with it. She even knew the specific type of hyaluronic acid that the clinic would be using.
"I made sure to research the type of hyaluronic acid they were using. After determining that it was of high quality, I decided to go ahead with the procedure that same day," she explained.
"However, around 24 hours later, I began experiencing intense pain and throbbing in my lips. This continued for three days, but I assumed it was just a normal part of the healing process. The dentist who performed the procedure had mentioned that some discomfort in the area was to be expected."
"However, the pain became unbearable, and I had to resort to taking medication. I've never had to rely on painkillers to this extent before," Barbara lamented. Her concerns escalated when she spoke to her mother-in-law, who had undergone the same procedure without experiencing any adverse effects.
"At the clinic, they informed me that the person who performed the procedure was not available that day," she recounted.
"Despite experiencing severe pain and observing that it was worsening each day, I held onto the hope that everything would eventually resolve itself.
"However, as the pain and peeling intensified during the night, I reached out to a friend who is a dentist specializing in facial harmonization.
"She conducted a blood flow test and discovered that there was no circulation reaching the affected area."
Barbara was urged to return to the clinic out of concern for the possibility of necrosis, a condition where tissue death occurs due to inadequate blood flow.Upon her return, the dentist administered an enzyme to break down the hyaluronic acid.
"It wasn't until I was already in the car that I received a message from the clinic advising me to take an anti-allergy medication, but they didn't specify the dosage," she recounted.
"Unfortunately, it was too late as I was already experiencing an allergic reaction."
Barbara was swiftly transported to the hospital, where she received urgent medical treatment.
"They administered corticosteroids and other medications directly into my veins. I cried profusely, feeling a blockage in my throat and intense pain in my neck," she recounted.
After a video she posted online went viral, the clinic reached out to Barbara, promising to cover the expenses. However, Barbara expressed her dissatisfaction, stating, "For me, that is insignificant compared to what I've endured. I nearly lost my life."
Barbara is now contemplating legal action against the dentist.
