Heroes Don't Always Wear Capes, Sometimes They Wear UPS Uniforms
We all know if we're expecting a delivery during the holidays, it's probably best not to hold our breath that it will get to us on time. That's just how it is. The holidays are a tough time for the postal service, and they have a hard time keeping up with the demand. This, of course, ends up being a big problem for all of us who are awaiting the Christmas presents we have waited until the last minute to purchase. It becomes a frustrating time for everyone involved.
However, we have proof that some delivery drivers are going above and beyond to make sure we get our stuff on time, no matter what!
Scroll down to see just how much effort one UPS delivery man went to to get a package up an icy driveway, and get it to its rightful destination on time. The footage was captured by a security camera, and it went viral after Walt Gorczowski uploaded it to YouTube.
“I heard the UPS truck pull up so I opened the garage and told him to just leave the package at the sidewalk and I’d figure out a way to get it," Gorczowski said.
"But he insisted on getting it to me. Above and beyond… this guy is awesome.”
A UPS representative said, “UPS employees are known for their dedication to serving their customers. Sometimes, as in this video, UPS drivers get a little creative with how they make their deliveries in challenging circumstances.”
“Between Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2019, we estimate UPS will deliver more than 32 million packages per day in the U.S. and around the world, an increase of 60% over our normal daily volume,” the representative explained.
So, how do they deal with it? “We flex the UPS network with highly automated capacity, advanced operational and customer technologies, 100,000 seasonal employees, and by collaborating with our customers on strategies that match capacity to their needs throughout holiday season.”
UPS observes Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which means technically they are closed. However, they do offer the Express Critical service which works during all holidays, for those of us who need something urgently delivered on those days.
