It is not necessary for all rules to be written down and handed about in order for them to be significant and worthy of observance. Some rules are just implied.
Some rules are in place because they had to be put in place. The speed limit, for example, or the legal drinking age.
Meanwhile, some policies have backfired spectacularly, making those who enacted them regret their actions. However, some rules are self-evident.
They aren't written about in books, and they aren't sanctioned by legislation, but they nonetheless rule our daily lives. This simple "common sense" is also referred to as "unwritten rules," and it refers to common behavioral limits that we all accept.
Things include never making light of someone else's laugh or not swiping sideways when someone shows you a picture on their phone. It may appear strange, yet many people swear by it!
People on the internet have identified more unsaid norms, which you can find below. Reddit user u/SpareArm posed the question: "What is one 'unwritten rule' you think everyone should know and follow?"
The thread, which now contains hundreds of these "unwritten rules" in writing, brings up a lot of great points. Here are some of the best:

Don't need to mention it."

This is our society. We’ve created it.
Now, it might not be the best (it’s not even close to good), but it is ours and we chose to live in it. And that following some rules.
Some of them are written, but some of them are grains of wisdom passed on from one generation to the next. We hope you’ve read these simple rules we’ve listed above and that you will remember them.
