Cats and dogs are commonly thought of as typical household pets. But many pet owners know that love, companionship and a cute face come in many different types of animals.

If you’re feeling ready to expand your family, but aren’t much of a dog or cat person, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start to find your next perfect pet. Many people would just assume you’d have to purchase an uncommon or exotic pet directly from a breeder or a pet store.

Both options can feel really problematic, as pet stores are notoriously bad environments for living creatures, and breeders aside from propping up a less than ideal practice of bringing life into this already very crowded world can be hit or miss.

16. Nevis the Horse

As far as I know, Nevis is an island in the Caribbean, but look at HOW CUTE HE IS.

17. Piggy Smalls the Pot Bellied Pig

Puns will 100% win me over every time.

18. Elvis the Skunk

I would like to cuddle this cutie all day long.
