A high school student and five of her peers were trainers for their sports teams. Their 27-year-old supervisor, Theresa, was a certified athletic trainer.

One of their post-training tasks was to clean and wrangle all equipment. Theresa returned to their field house while OP and the rest of the trainers cleaned.

Kate, a high school student and one of the trainers, was dating one of the athletes. Kate told OP and the rest to go ahead because she wanted to take pictures with her boyfriend.

Theresa asked where Kate was when they returned to the field house. Theresa answered her own question before any of the trainers could formulate a response.

Their 27-year-old supervisor implied that the two high school students were doing something sexual. The trainers looked at each other in discomfort while Theresa laughed.

They couldn't believe Theresa made an inappropriate comment about two 15-year-olds. OP felt Kate had the right to know what was said about her while she was gone.

She shared what Theresa said about her and her boyfriend when Kate arrived at the field house. Kate left without saying goodbye to anyone, and OP followed shortly.

OP told her mom what happened when she picked her up. Kate's mom called OP's mom a few minutes later and said that her daughter had been crying non-stop.

Kate's mom wanted Theresa to apologize to Kate and asked OP's mom if it was appropriate. OP's mom agreed that an apology was necessary

Next day, Kate told OP what happened. Her mom called the head coach, Theresa's boss, to inform him of the incident. They said they didn't want Theresa to get in trouble, but they expect the issue to be addressed.

The head coach was furious. He fired Theresa and reported her behavior to the other centers that employed her. She was around high school students most of the time.

OP went to her relative's house later and saw Theresa crying. She complained how unfair her termination was. She said she did nothing wrong, she just made silly comments.

OP's other relatives found out she was the one who told Kate what happened. Theresa still has no idea. Their relatives claimed OP ruined Theresa's life and she should be ashamed of herself.

She is a 27-year-old employee. The companies signing her paychecks had the right to terminate her contract when her actions reflected poorly on them.

OP didn't make Theresa say those things. Theresa is simply facing the consequences of her words.

Any institution dealing with minors employing a person who poses any kind of danger to them would have reacted the same way the head coach did... and they did.

There is a high likelihood that Theresa didn't tell their relatives what her "silly comment" was to earn their sympathy

If Theresa is truly unaware of how inappropriate her comment was, then what happened could help her learn a very important lesson if she wants to work again

The moment Kate's mom called the head coach, things were out of their control. He probably had no choice but to report what Theresa did since their job revolved around working with minors.

It's not OP's fault she had more morals than a 27-year-old. Theresa may have seen her flippant comment as a silly joke she made around colleagues, but clearly, her employers disagree.

If she is a truly good person, then this experience will teach her a valuable lesson. If she is set on making herself a martyr, no group of teenagers is capable of teaching her something she isn't willing to learn.
