It's not often in life that you meet someone new and form an immediate, unbreakable friendship. But when you do, it's something undeniably special.

Just ask 2-year-old Theo, from Salt Lake City, Utah. When he first laid eyes on his pal, Benny, he just knew they would be best friends.

The thing is, well, Benny is not a little boy like Theo. Benny is a 5-foot skeleton that Theo's parents bought as a spooky Halloween decoration.

How did this come about, you may ask? Well, back in September, Theo's mother, Abigail, noticed a damp feeling in the air of their Utah home as she was getting ready to take Theo out to a reservoir.

Upon investigation, Abigail found the problem was in the basement. "I went downstairs and noticed the water heater had flooded the basement," she said.

"The basement is unfinished, so it wasn't that big of a deal. While I was cleaning up the mess, Theo found the skeleton among all of the decorations."

"Once I had everything cleaned up, it was time to head to the reservoir. However, he refused to get into the car without his skeleton," Abigail continued.

"So the skeleton came along on a fun adventure with us. Since then, they have been inseparable."

Abigail says that Theo is a sweet-natured little boy with a huge heart. He loves people and especially playing with children his own age.

She says that the reactions to Theo's bestie from passers-by have been mostly very wholesome. "People are really nice and sweet about the whole thing," she said.

"It definitely makes a lot of people smile. A few also come up to us and say that it's so cute."

Abigail believes that quarantine has been difficult for Theo, as he misses the weekly playdates he was used to with his young friends. So, she doesn't blame little Theo for wanting a new friend (even if he doesn't say much).
