Is there anything more adorable than a teeny tiny turtle? The correct answer is no, and we have the pictures to prove it!

Not only are baby turtles the cutest things ever, but they're also fascinating creatures. For instance, did you know that baby turtles communicate with each other before they even hatch?

Yep, around 11 percent of unhatched turtle babies can speak to each other through their shells. They hatch a plan (pun intended) so that they can all hatch simultaneously, which increases their chance of survival.

When the babies are ready to hatch, they use a tool called a caruncle or an "egg tooth" to help them break through their shells. The egg tooth then falls out only an hour later.

Sadly, only around one in a thousand baby turtles will survive after hatching. The odds are stacked so highly against them because all they have to depend on is their own strength and instincts.

A mother turtle will lay around 150 to 200 eggs at one time, which she then covers with sand before returning to the ocean. So, essentially, baby turtles are abandoned by their parents.

A baby turtle will begin to break out of its shell from anywhere between 50 to 70 days. Then, once they've hatched, the babies remain in the nest for a few days to rest and recharge their energy.

During that time, they feed off the yolk sack from the inside of their shell. Once they have regained their strength, it's time for them to embark on their long journey to the water.

It's a real survival game as a baby turtle makes its way to the ocean. The odds are stacked against them as they must try to avoid predators at all costs.

Once in the water, they will often hide amongst floating seaweed. They quickly make their way into deeper waters, where they stay until they are big enough to defend themselves in coastal areas.
