Employee Quits After Being Forced To Work Thanksgiving

Normally, people are given off Thanksgiving, and if you're not then you can usually request it off. Now we know this isn't the case for all jobs, but in this situation, this was the case.

We all love to take time off to be with family, especially on Thanksgiving and the other holidays that are around that time. A lot of us find ourselves planning vacations to visit family and taking time off for holidays to spend time with family.

Many people try to take this time off in advance as possible to ensure that no problems arise with getting it approved. As we all know, the earlier the better because many people travel o need time off for the holidays.

With this being said, a lot of businesses like to remain open on these holidays to increase their sales, but staffing can be a problem. Because many people travel or request off for the holidays, many managers find it difficult to schedule a full staff on these days.

That's exactly what happened in this situation, but the worker was forced to work on Thanksgiving despite them asking for time off and getting it approved. Here's a look into this ridiculous story and how the employee quit their job.

Thanksgiving is a time where many people like to request off to spend time with their loved ones instead of work.

Matt seems to be the boss and the girl is sharing these screenshots from their conversation the day she quit her job.

As you can see, Matt is saying that he needs her to work, but she responds with the fact that she's already approved for that weekend off.

He then proceeds to tell her that he scheduled her on the two days that she was approved off.

We admire her stance because she didn't budge at all on working Thanksgiving.

The ultimatum clearly didn't work out how he thought it would.

Matt proceeds to threaten her job and tell her it's non-negotiable. She then responds by saying that she quits and won't be coming to her shift that night either.

People then started commenting on the situation.

This is exactly how we would have responded because he needs to put everything in writing.

This is true, there was no negotiation and he's probably very mad at himself.

I'm not sure why bosses ever threaten our jobs because they will always get handed the short end of the stick after we quit.

That's exactly what it was and I'm glad that we can all see through it.

Managers just make it so hard on themselves when it comes to scheduling. If you can't schedule, then just don't open. It's a holiday anyway.

Looks like Matt is going to lose a couple of his employees before he realizes what he's doing wrong.

I agree with this 100% because if you don't have a full staff, then just close.

He thought that it was going to encourage her to come in so that she could maintain her job, but it doesn't always work out this way.

These both are huge problems that we see often in businesses like this.

Someone asked for an update and we are not disappointed at all.

Well, this was an interesting story. Unfortunately, this happens a lot.

After hearing about this situation, I think a lot of us would have done the exact same thing that she did. Obviously, this boss had this blow up in his face, and it didn't go at all how he had planned.

Ultimately we can see that the employee obviously didn't mind, and she's content with her decision.
