If there's one thing we can all learn from horror movies, it's to never explore creepy rooms or passages you just discovered.
Most of our favorite horror movies usually begin with a new family moving in an old house that they bought—because, for some reason, these people seem to be fond of ancient-looking houses that just scream murder and ghosts all over. These stories are usually set into motion with one of the family members discovering something odd, wreaking havoc in their lives.
But what if in real life, you actually find something strange in a new house you just moved into? People in movies usually find secret rooms and passages or even real bodies of people—and yes, some of these do happen in real life as well, as shown in the collection of photos below.
Let's face it, realtors are not the most reliable and honest people out there, and they usually withhold some information about the property they are selling just to get it off the market. This may explain why these houses appeal so much to some families.
There are a lot of inspections to do when moving into a new house, and most homeowners do make it their business to check every corner of the house—and by every corner, literally every corner. This is when they stumble upon the weirdest things which can sometimes be considered creepy as hell.
Most of the time, these discoveries are sought up out of sheer curiosity, and sometimes, they discover clues that lead them to find these things. Take a look at some of the real-life examples of this!
The local police were notified of this and they are waiting to hear back if this belonged to a human or an animal.
“Just moved into my first house about 2 weeks ago. Just starting to get settled in. Bought the house for a very cheap price. The previous owner was very old and passed away. The house is very old, but for the price, it was perfect for a first house. When I first toured the house the basement was way worse than it is now. The previous owner hadn’t moved anything out yet. The basement was pretty full with junk. They cleaned most of the stuff in the basement out, so I had to clear some stuff out. But here it is now with some stuff that I don’t really need and will probably get rid of soon. While sorting things out in the basement I noticed this sheet of plywood that oddly fit in. I have had the house for 2 weeks and never noticed it. I decided that I didn’t want to keep it down there so I tried to move it. It is pinched pretty hard against the stairs so it was pretty hard to get out. When I finally got it to move I noticed there was something behind. At this point is when I got my phone and started taking pictures”
What could it possibly contain?
“I rented this cool house in the hills of a Los Angeles suburb and there is a lot of DIY stonework on the property – little walls, an archway, steps and this dungeon built into the hill right behind the house. The history I’ve gathered is that a stonemason lived here for decades until he passed away from old age in the 90s, when the current owner purchased the property and began renting it. No one I’ve talked to knows what the dungeon was used for”
"
Found out the house we are living in has a bunker below. I managed to squeeze my phone in one of the cracks of the door to take this creepy picture."
Run!
Looks like something out of American Horror Story.
Seems like there's no Harry Potter here!
Trying to knock up the nooks and corners of a house that evidently looks creepy and haunted is one way to make your life shift into a horror movie—but these people were certainly brave enough to be nosy! Well, it is now their house, after all.
