When This Special Needs Dog Lost His Best Friend His Family Gave Him A Plush Toy That Looks Just Like Her

Paddy the special-needs Chihuahua is very special indeed. He was rescued from danger trying to cross a deadly four-lane highway and he was in shocking condition. Poor little Paddy was starving to the point of being emaciated and due to a misaligned disc in his neck he just kept falling over. Yet in true miracle fashion Paddy was adopted after just a few months of recovery and that's where he met his best friend, Lily the lamb.

Lily was also special needs because before she was born she did not have enough room in the womb for her legs to develop properly. When Lily was born her mother wanted nothing to do with her because she was sick so she was also placed for adoption in the same home as Paddy. Their friendship is truly one of the most inspiring and endearing stories we've ever heard.

Oner Janell Jensen told The Dodo:

When we adopted Lily, Paddy took her under his wing right away and became her official face washer after each and every bottle of lamb’s milk, which at first was every hour.

He snuggled with her to keep her company; she was HIS baby lamb. Lily would also walk over to Paddy and snuggle up to him. They loved each other… they were VERY close.

Lily was very lucky to have Janell and her family to take care of her. They provided for all her needs with dedication for 15 months before sadly, Lily lost her battle and passed away. Yet for both Paddy and Lily those 15 months were truly special.

When Paddy lost his best friend he was clearly devastated and lonely so Paddy's human aunt sent him the perfect comfort gift: a plush lamb that looked JUST like Lily! The toy isn't Lily but it's enough like Lily to comfort the sweet dog in his time of grief and it's very sweet to see with our own eyes just how much our furry friends are impacted by friendship and loss. It speaks so much to their character and ability to feel!
