Woman Notices Snails Often Cross The Sidewalk Outside Her Work And She Puts A “Snail Crossing” Sign To Keep Them Safe
Snails are not exactly the kind of sidewalk traffic most people notice, but one woman in New York kept spotting them in the same risky spot outside her workplace. Tiffany DeLaCruz says the tiny creatures started appearing in late April, especially on warm, humid mornings and after rain, and one of their favorite routes led straight across the stairwell area at the bottom of the building.
That made the crossing a little dangerous for the slow-moving visitors, so DeLaCruz decided to do something about it. She put up a small “snail crossing” sign to remind people to watch their step and give the snails a better chance at making it through.
Now the building has a tiny safety campaign of its own, and the snails might be the luckiest commuters in New York.

She needed a way to prevent her friends from getting stepped on - and her idea was both brilliant and adorable. She posted a “snail crossing” sign on the stair railing to warn everyone to watch their steps.

“I wanted to make people aware that there are smaller lives among us and to keep an eye out for them,” DeLaCruz explains. “Safety first!”

There's no telling how many snails DeLaCruz has saved so far, but one thing is sure - the people who use those stairs are much more careful now, and the snails can go about their business in peace.
