Courtney Wingate, a director of the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, was at local animal control when she noticed three little Labrador puppies. One of them was especially charming because he smiled at everyone.

Wintage knew she couldn’t leave them in the center, so she called Sarrah Walton, who immediately took them. She called them Joe, Burreaux, and O after the coach and quarterback of the school’s football team.

The puppies were taken to the vet, where thy tested negative for parvo, but after arriving at the rescue Burreaux, the pup with the adorable smile got sick. They’ve rushed him back to the hospital, where he recovered in no time.

Back at the shelter, Walton noticed that every time someone spoke to Burreaux in a high voice, saying he is a good boy, the puppy would instantly flash his little teeth in a big smile.

“It’s whenever you’re talking real sweet to him … he gets this smile like he wants something,” Walton told The Dodo. “[It’s] like he’s telling you, ‘Come pet me, come love me.’”

When the pups were ready to start the search for their homes, the shelter shared a video of Joe’s talent for fetch. Joe got adopted really quickly.

“The entire litter was friendly and sweet, and they like to play,” Walton said. “Burreaux and his sister are starting to learn fetch, too.”

Walton and Wingate started thinking about what unique talent should Burreaux present in a Facebook video. He wasn’t as great at fetch as his brother, but he is a charmer.”

“And we were thinking, ‘Burreaux wants a home so bad that he’s always smiling, trying to cute it up,’” Walton says. “So we took that video and now it’s going viral.”

The video of Burreaux’s big smile has amassed more than 40,000 views. But even with his new online fame, Burreaux and his sister O are still looking for a new home.

The puppies had a lot of luck being pulled out of the animal control center, but we hope that their lucky star will shine upon them once more, and they will find good families to take them in.

If you would like to adopt Burreaux or his sister O, or know anyone who would be interested, you can find more information on Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana's website.
