Mother Creates Seat Belt Covers To Warn Of Children's Health Issues In Case Of Emergency

There is nothing more powerful than a mother's love. And in this case, that love and concern has also turned out to be a viral success!

Australian mother, Natalie Bell, came up with a unique idea when thinking of what might happen to her young daughter, Shae, if she happened to get in an accident.

Shae, who is deaf and has a cochlear implant, is unable to have an MRI. This worried Natalie, and she wondered how paramedics or medical staff would know this important information in case of a car accident.

Natalie's concerns prompted her to come up with an idea of her own - velcro seat belt covers with clear, bold letters on a white background stating the child's condition.

Natalie posted about her idea on Facebook saying, “I always wonder what would happen if I was in a car accident with my daughter in the car and I was unable to let the doctors know that my daughter could not have a MRI due to having a cochlear implant."

She went on, "Now I don’t need to worry about that with these seat belt covers. These can be made for any special needs that the medical team will need to know if you are unable to tell them.”

The covers can also be attached to other places like backpack straps.

Natalie offers a variety of covers in her online store, covering a variety of health issues such as autism, diabetes and down syndrome.

Natalie says the seat belt covers are useful because they stand out, as opposed to medical bracelets which may be covered by clothing.

Natalie does warn that due to high demand, orders may currently take up to 4 weeks to be delivered.
