Photographer Has Brilliantly Captured the Imperfections of Rescued Disabled Dogs, Making Them Look Totally Perfect
This award-winning Australian photographer, Alex Cearns, who is also the founder of Houndstooth Studio, has provided a beautiful perspective on dogs with disabilities through her photography. Her book, titled Perfect Imperfection: Dog Portraits of Resilience and Love, features various dogs who look beautiful and charming despite their disabilities.
As Cearns puts it, “I love every animal I have the privilege of photographing, but those perceived as different hold a special place in my heart. These are the canines who have lost a leg, been born without eyes, or still bear the scars of former abuse.”
Talking about one of the subjects of her photography, a dog named Pip who was rescued from the streets of Bali, Cearns shares, “Bali Pip was a natural and loved being in the spotlight. She was a cute, inquisitive, and playful pup. Her images later went viral, and people from all over the world fell in love with her.”
Explaining her work regarding dogs with disabilities, she says, “They push on, always wanting to be included and involved in everything as much as they can, just like any able-bodied pet.” You can purchase her books here: Website
