21 Compelling Reasons Why Ferrets Actually Make Good Pets
Ferrets make great pets, and they are actually common household animals all over the United States. They are as curious as cats and as friendly as dogs—a great option for those who want an animal companion that has a little bit of both.
They are most certainly not for everyone, though (just like there are cat people and dog people), but they can be the best pets as long as they are with the right owner—one who knows how to truly take care of them. They can bond with humans fairly well, as long as they are handled gently and properly from a young age.
Ferrets can live from 6 to 10 years, depending on how well they are cared for. Unfortunately, many people seem to misunderstand ferrets, painting them in a negative light.
They most definitely don't deserve to be outcast by those who are seeking pets. They are domesticated animals, and their wild relatives are believed to be the Steppe and European polecats; other than that, they don't really have any exact counterparts in the wild.
Like all other animals, it is essential that potential owners do their research to determine if a ferret is the right pet for them. But for starters, scroll on to see the most basic (and important!) reasons why ferrets do make good pets—ones that could even rival cats and dogs!
1. Ferrets are very curious in nature, and that makes them highly entertaining to watch and observe.

2. They're the cutest little things, especially when they stick out their tongues!

3. They are extremely loving and loyal, as long as you take good care of them. They simply reciprocate the time, love, and effort that you invest!

4. They may have a bad reputation for being stinky—but their sweet personalities easily override it. Honestly, cats and dogs smell, too!

5. They are inexpensive to raise and care for, unlike large dogs.

6. They are very skilled at romping and just fooling around.
7. *Some* of them do enjoy baths!
8. They are mostly quiet throughout the day and will only make playful squeaks or chirps while playing or walking.
9. They are safe pets for children and are great for when kids want to spend more time playing.

10. They can be stacked easily!

11. They do get along with other animals, like dogs and cats, but you need to do proper introductions first.

12. They have distinct personalities and are very lovable.

13. They are forever small! If you live in a small apartment, they are the perfect choice.

14. They can be very energetic... and then just rest at the drop of a hat!

15. You can dress them up in a cute outfit. Take a look at this one in a Hufflepuff costume!

16. They will do anything for treats.
17. They have a variety of methods of communication.
18. They love exploring—and will mostly test a lot of items using their mouths.

19. They enjoy the same things as you do—especially sleeping.

20. They're good companions!

21. And they make good models for your little hats.

Most people may think that having a ferret as a pet is weird, but they're simply missing out! There are many things to consider when deciding to have a ferret as a pet, but if there's one thing you should keep in mind, it's that you must be able to give them the time and effort necessary so that they can trust and bond with you in the long run.
