Mother Deer Rejects Her Baby Because He Has A Rare Condition, But This Fawn Finds Happiness Eventually
Fawns are pure, sweet, and part of the wonders of the woods. Deer, with their calm and elusive nature, tend to be exceptionally protective of their young.
However, in order to survive, they may have to leave their young alone for a few hours to go food hunting. A fawn is conceived, tipping the scales at around five pounds, and will flaunt an excellent red coat.
This color helps it blend in with its natural environment, the forests. The white spots complement the red layer of hide.
As the fawn approaches five months old and starts to go through his first molt, which is when he begins developing his winter coat, the white spots will gradually begin to disappear. Fawns rely on their mothers to develop and thrive in their natural environment, but this wasn't the case for the fawn in this story.
The mother of this fawn rejected him because he was born with a surprising highlight all over his face. The one-and-a-half-week-old baby deer was brought into the world with an exceptionally rare condition called piebald.
In contrast to melanism or albinism, piebald occurs when an animal has large patches on its body that lack pigmentation.
An amazingly charming fawn, deserted soon after birth, has finally found solace at a local farm in Michigan.

The little one was given a rather savage name – Dragon – but was nonetheless betrayed by his exceptionally charming face.

The rare fawn was delivered at Deer Tracks Junction, a farm in Cedar Springs, Michigan. Due to his condition, his mother abandoned him soon after birth, but luckily, he's currently happy, all thanks to the compassionate individuals who took care of him.
According to Hilary Powell, who adopted Dragon, fawns like this are extremely rare in the wild, as being piebald causes various health hazards. A whitetail deer, based on its instincts, will reject any babies that don't have a decent chance of survival. Dragon would have faced colossal challenges living in the wild, just like any other albino animal.
Isn't he a beauty?

Fortunately for this rare fawn, he has everything he needs to live a long and happy life on the farm where he resides!

Animals with these rare conditions often suffer the consequences because they are frequently rejected by their own species. To make matters worse, they are defenseless against hunters due to a lack of camouflage.
Powell told FOX17 that deer have black noses, while Dragon’s pink nose is a significant disadvantage in the wild. Since he lacks pigmentation, his nose is exceptionally sensitive to the sun and can get sunburned. She added that the white also makes him stand out, so he can't hide from hunters, and he can't see or hear as well as a normal deer would, making it difficult for him to detect approaching hunters.
