Dogs are regarded as man’s best friend for a reason. These canines have kept humans company for centuries, and it doesn’t seem like this will change anytime soon.
Archaeological evidence shows that dogs were the first animals domesticated by humans more than 30,000 years ago. This is more than 10,000 years before the domestication of horses and ruminants.
It’s easy to understand why humans are so attracted to dogs. They are super playful and inarguably the best companions ever.
Owning a dog also has multiple benefits, including improved self-confidence, reduced stress levels, and overall healthy well-being.
However, dogs need attention and care, and this isn’t always cheap. From medical care to feeding and occasional grooming, there are lots of things a dog owner will have to spend money on to ensure their dog is fit and alright.
Unfortunately, not every dog owner can afford the time or money their dog may require, which often results in hard goodbyes. The dog owner may choose to find new parents for their dogs or take them to an animal shelter.
We found a dog whose parents had to let go, and they couldn’t help but send their canine off with a bag of pizza and a note for their potential new owner.
Diamond was abandoned in a pretty sad way
Facebook/Justin HanleyJustin Hanley, a father of two in Philadelphia, came across a pit bull-mix puppy tied to the railing outside his front steps. Yet, that wasn’t the only surprising thing because the puppy had a note and a plastic bag with three slices of pizza.
The content of the note
Facebook/Justin Hanley“Please take me home,” the note read. “I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
Hanley admitted that anyone feeding a dog pizza is certainly not equipped to have one
Facebook/Justin HanleyHanley took Diamond inside and gave her something to eat. But unfortunately, he couldn’t keep her, as he already had a dog of his own to cater to.
Finding Diamond a home
Don’t Bully Us Rescue/FacebookLeft with no choice, Hanley turned to social media to find a permanent home for Diamond. He posted on a local neighborhood Facebook page, asking who handled abandoned/lost dogs.
To his surprise, responses came pouring in. At this moment, he knew that it wouldn't be difficult to find Diamond a place to settle.
“Within minutes, I knew that Diamond would have no trouble finding the home she deserves,” Hanley said.
Hanley’s post received over 150 responses, and within three hours, he got Diamond a home. Interestingly, the person who adopted Diamond happened to be a member of the Facebook group!

There’s nothing better than knowing one more dog is off the streets. We’re so excited that Hanley was able to find Diamond a home under such short notice.
Hopefully, the new owners will do a great job keeping Diamond safe and healthy. Did you enjoy reading this heartwarming story?
