Egyptian Artist Re-Imagines Cartoon Characters With Real-Life Body Proportions And We're Shook
Mohamed Halawany is a self-taught Egyptian artist who has recently made some big waves in the cartoon fandom with his "Real Toons" series. In the series, Halawany takes the cartoon heads of iconic characters from Disney, classic cartoons, and even video games and gives them human-like bodies and style. His creativity and skills are impossible not to take note of and the peculiar imagery is definitely not something we've seen done before.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Halawany said:
“I'm a self-taught artist. I started as a freelancer 3D generalist in 2007 and now I'm an art director and co-founder of Seven Pictures, an Egyptian media production house.
I started making daily 3D renders in my free time since 2017, just for fun, inspired by many 3D artists that do the same. So I'm trying to find a new idea every day and Real Toons are one of them."
Each character's process takes "about two hours," and Halawany explained his process:
"The body is 3D scanned and I model the head with cinema 4D or a brush and that's it... It's like photo manipulation, but with 3D objects. It's all about having fun so I'm enjoying every step.”
