Talented Artist Creates Stunning Series Of Disney Princess As Queens

We have been fortunate to see some of our favorite Disney girls blossom into queens and incredible leaders, but this has not really been true for the majority of Disney girls, whose stories we have grown to love deeply over the years. Our imaginations can lead us to many incredible places, but not all of us have the artistic abilities or skills to bring our imagination to life in a way that we could share with others.

Thankfully, there are Disney fans in this world who do have the skills to transform ideas and thoughts into something tangible we can all enjoy. Such is the case with the concept of Disney princesses and other young heroines becoming queens and kick-butt leaders.

US-based artist and dedicated Disney fan, "minxy-moo" has created two really phenomenal Disney series of princesses, girls, and heroines in which she transformed these characters into queens. One series features classic head-shot style portraits of a few well-known favorites while the other series includes full-body shots with gorgeous gowns, incredible headwear, and legendary accessories.

What is not to love about taking a trip into someone else's imagination when it means we get to delight in Disney princesses like Jasmine and Snow White or heroines like Megara and Jane Porter? We're sure as fellow Disney fanatics, you'll really get a kick out of this artist's work.

1. Jane Porter: "I have a soft spot for her because of her patience in teaching Tarzan. Queen of the Jungle, indeed!"

2. Moana: "Moana wasn't part of my original lineup, so Merry Christmas everyone!"

2. Moana: minxy-moo

3. Tiger Lily: "I love this girl; she knew her priorities and was so strong and bold."

3. Tiger Lily: minxy-moo

4. Jasmine: "My sister's favorite princess, I love how bold and uncompromising she is."

4. Jasmine: minxy-moo

5. Pocahontas: "Pocahontas. Ever my favorite!"

6. Merida: "Merida! Look at the hair!"

6. Merida: minxy-moo

7. Rapunzel: "She is my favorite "official" queen."

7. Rapunzel: minxy-moo

8. Kida: "Disney's first princess who actually became a queen! I absolutely love her movie."

8. Kida: minxy-moo

9. Tiana: "Tiana is an amazing role model, and although it seems she and Naveen decided not to rule Maldovia, they would've made a wonderful king and queen!"

9. Tiana: minxy-moo

10. Maid Marian: "I was honestly obsessed with Disney's Robin Hood as a kid. This humanized version of the lovely vixen is now my new obsession."

Of course, these stunning headshot-style portraits of some of the most iconic Disney princesses we know of (and adore) are not the only time this artist has worked on a "Princess to Queen" series. Check out these full-body illustrations that include additional characters Disney fans know and love.

1. Charlotte La Bouff

"I love this character so so much! As the movie clearly explains, Lottie is considered a princess due to her father being "King of the Mardi Gras!" Therefore, I tried to add some beading on her dress, but because Lottie is not afraid of being big and poofy, she fit this type of dress perfectly!

Lottie has to be the most genuine character that Disney has ever made: she gives up her dream to help her best friend's. She literally does anything and everything to help her friend, regardless of their very different backgrounds. We all need to be a little more like Lottie!"

2. Giselle

"Opposite to Nancy, Giselle started out as a princess but ended up not becoming one. So, technically not a princess but I had to include her. I kept her in her King's Ball gown because it was just gorgeous."

2. Giselle minxy-moo

3. Atta (A Bug's Life)

"threw this idea back and forth for a long time before I finally decided to do it. And I'm glad I did! Look at that sass! So, Atta actually did become queen by the end of A Bug's Life. But, due to Disney having a tough time recognizing animal princesses as legit princesses, she is not official.

I put Atta in some armor because the way she s normally makes it look like she is wearing some. Also, I needed an excuse to put a queen in armor. And the cape!"

4. Maid Marian

"This is it, this is the movie I grew up on, pre-Pochatonas era. My parents recorded this movie from TV, commercials and all, and although it was a crappy version of the movie, I loved it non-the-less. I still remember the commercials, that's how often I watched it. I love this lady.

I imagine, due to Prince John being in jail and King Richard having no announced successors, Marian and Robin would take the throne eventually. Long live the queen!

So, because she is humanized here, I dolled her up with fox designs in her gown. I made her veil floor-length, just for fun, and I love it. I kept her hair short here, and incorporated her eyebrows *eyebrow game so strong.*"

5. Shanti (The Jungle Book)

"That tiny little girl from The Jungle Book. With the same respect to Pocahontas, Shanti's love interest is the village leader's (adopted) son, Mowgli.

I took a lot of the look from Mowgli and Shanti's mothers, both seen in The Jungle Book 2. Simple and modest. She is so adorable in the first one, and I prefer her there rather than the second movie; mysterious and innocent."

5. Shanti (The Jungle Book)minxy-moo

6. Faline (Bambi)

"Bambi is referred to as the "Prince of the Forest" multiple times in the movie, so of course his beloved Faline would then be considered the "Princess of the Forest."

Faline is such a beautiful character, so elegant but yet so strong-headed and sassy! She knows what's up! Therefore, I wanted to keep her dress simply elegant, but empowering. So I went with this dress and added in the delicate sheer wrap-around cape. I love the crown and the hint of deer/antlers on her outfit. Her necklace is in the shape of rain droplets, representing my favorite scene of the movie!"

7. Megara

"Soooo....She is not a "queen" per-say...but she is a Goddess here (and that is close, right?) I love Megara! She has the sarcasm that is reflected in me literally every day. I love her.

Her gown is heavily inspired by an artist named LadyAmber (whom I cannot find now...) but I also pulled from Hera's color palette and her crown. I also had to add in the crest of Zeus that Herc wears in the movie."

7. Megaraminxy-moo

8. Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas)

"Surprise! It's been so long! Here is my newest Queen, The Pumpkin Queen!

Part of the "unofficial" series, Sally has a handsome soft spot in my heart. She is so caring and sweet. I had a huge influence on Tim Burton's other outfits seen in The Corpse Bride, worn by Victoria Everglot. However, I felt it necessary to add little pieces of cloth stitched to the outfit. Classic Sally."

9. Nala (The Lion King)

"Oh man, this was difficult. The lineart was simple to come up with BUT the coloring was so hard. I wanted to base her heavily off of the Broadway actress that portrays her. Plus it only makes sense that she would be dark-skinned being a native of Africa.

ANYWAY! It really irks me that Nala is not recognized as a princess, or a freaking queen in the second movie, simply because she is not human. Grrrrrrr."

9. Nala (The Lion King)minxy-moo

10. Jane Porter

"The queen of the jungle!

I kept her design simple and much like the one in the movie. However, I made the skirt longer and gave her shirt some wear-and-tear. I also gave her some weapons, for those dangerous elements that come with living in the jungle. Finally, the headgear. Yes, that is a leopard. From when I got from the movie, Tarzan gave Kerjack the leopard to show that he is alpha (or has higher status). It just tickled my fancy to have her wearing it as like a crown-type-thing."

10. Jane Porterminxy-moo

11. Nancy Tremaine (Enchanted)

"This lovely girl, who did not start off as a princess in the 2007 film Enchanted, but she sure ended up as one.

And can we please appreciate that this was Idina Menzel's first appearance as a Disney princess. (Hopefully there will be many more).

Anyways, I got a lot of inspiration for this dress from her wedding gown. I also added in a cape because capes ftw."

11. Nancy Tremaine (Enchanted)minxy-moo

12. Cinderella

"I kept Cinderella in her classic blue color. I used much of the fashion inspiration from Prince Charming's mother, with a tiny bit of Lady Tremaine thrown in there. "

12. Cinderellaminxy-moo

13. Snow White

"Growing up, Snow White always confused me. She is the youngest princess, married at the age of 14. That bothered me when I was little and I never really knew why. Oh well. I left her colors very much the same here, the classic red blue, and yellow. Her crown is actually the Evil Queen's crown, which I'm sure was just called "the Queen's crown" by everyone else. Not a bad-looking crown, I must say."

13. Snow Whiteminxy-moo

14. Tiana

"I really enjoyed this movie, it was really cute and I love the friendship between Tia and Lottie! (psst, look for her soon!) Anyways, I chose blue like her first gown, I feel it suits the Princess of Maldonia better. Green is for the bayou, although I did add in the hints with the fireflies! The sash is like the one her mother-in-law wears, same as the crown and necklace. I also added in the green sashes around her hips like in her wedding dress, because her mother made it for her and I'm sure her mother would've helped with this gown. "

14. Tianaminxy-moo

15. Belle

"I actually think that Belle was a queen by the end of Beauty and the Beast, due to the fact that there were no parents of Adam's ever mentioned, and once they married she became queen. Anyways, here I decided to stray away from the yellow gown for a couple of reasons. 1) I personally think red suits her better than golden yellow and 2) I'm sure the gold gown was more for show rather than a daily queen gown. Also, I added in a book (specifically Shakespeare) because I'm sure she spent a good amount of time in her library."

15. Belleminxy-moo

16. Pocahontas

"I imagine when the Disney Princesses became Queens, they became even more awesome than they already where. Pocahontas has a permanent spot in my favorites list, so it was natural to start here first. I added in jewelry including the necklace her father wears plus a beaded belt. I also gave her the cloak/cape thing her father wears. Also, Meko."

16. Pocahontasminxy-moo

17. Merida

"I figured that the rebellious little lady would prefer her father's style over her mother's, however a few things made it into her ensemble. "

17. Meridaminxy-moo

18. Mulan

"I have a couple of things to say about her here:

Firstly, the only scenario I can think of where Mulan ever becomes Empress is if Shang becomes Emperor for his impressive military efforts. However, I don't think that's the way the Chinese government works, so in my mind, Mulan would become a very highly thought of adviser, or something of the sort. Feel free to see her in whichever you chose.

Secondly, I chose this outfit rather than her "normal" outfit because I believe she actually got this from the Emperor's palace. In the movie (the first one) she goes from being in her army under-clothes (whatever you call it) to this dress when Ling, Yao, and Chien Po dress as women. "

18. Mulanminxy-moo

19. Aurora / Sleeping Beauty

"I tried to keep her style very much the same, but her mother's style is thrown in there. I also tried to keep her gown thin and elegant instead of poofy and wild. The thin look suits her better."

20. Eliwony (The Black Cauldron)

"This princess is from the 1985 film, The Black Cauldron. The movie was a flop, lacking any songs and with scenes that tend to drag on and on, so Eilonwy never made it into the "official" princess gallery. However, she is indeed a princess nonetheless. This girl is also extremely feisty. We meet her in The Horn King's castle, or dungeon I should say.

She tells the main character, Taran, that the King stole her and that she's looking for a way out. She is completely calm and finds the whole thing an adventure, even saying, "I don't mind the rats." She isn't like any other princess, and sometimes you forget that she is one! She's a great character and I wish she would get more recognition."

20. Eliwony (The Black Cauldron)minxy-moo

21. Vanellope

"Given the fact that Vanellope is a princess (even though she considers herself a president) means she fits into the category of "princess" and I had to transform her. However, you will notice that I didn't change much! I'm sure she would have rather spent her years as a racer, and kept her outfit "race-ready." The pink skirt fulfills my need to dress her up"

21. Vanellope minxy-moo

22. Tiger Lily

"I love this princess! It might be a little culturally insensitive, but I took it right from the movie! Everything but the cape...thing...

I left her in a jazzed-up version of her original dress, with her father's pants, shoes, and headdress. I love how the braids turned out!"

22. Tiger Lilyminxy-moo

23. Rapunzel

"Gentle and kind to her people, Rapunzel gave the kingdom a soft touch of love when she took the throne alongside Flynn.

I gave her a soft look because of her kindness, and I feel it works well here. For those with a keen eye, you will notice she added in some of Mother Gothel's fashion sense in her wardrobe, along with her own birth-mother's fashion sense. And of course, Pascal is never far from her side!"

23. Rapunzel minxy-moo

24. Ariel

"Ahh yes, the lovely mermaid queen! I had such a debate within myself on which form I would do: human or mermaid? It was an internal struggle for about three months. Finally I decided "When am I ever going to be able to draw a mermaid again?!" "

24. Arielminxy-moo

25. Esmerelda

"In the same respect that Mulan is a princess, I feel Esmeralda could be one as well. Phoebus undoubtedly was promoted after the movie, and Esmeralda may have had some high political position because of him. That, or she became Queen of the [Romani]. Either one works."

25. Esmereldaminxy-moo

26. Kidagakash

"The first princess to take the throne and become queen in a Disney movie! It only took her some 8,000 years.

Here I drew her in the outfit seen at the end of the movie, plus her mother's overcoat...thing... and I added in her spear because not only was she the princess, but she was a warrior as well."

Surely all of us who haven't had a chance to see so many beloved Disney gal pals turn into bonafide queens means that having an artist interpret the concept with enthusiasm and creativity is an all-around great deal. When an artist with talent puts a lot of intention into their creative interpretations of well-known characters like Disney princesses, it really makes the whole thing even better.
