Weddings are supposed to be celebratory and they are a time when many loved ones get together to celebrate the love and future of two people. In our opinion, one of the most fun parts of attending weddings is that they are always so different from each other.
Because a couple's wedding is supposed to represent them, this is why we see so many different kinds of weddings from traditions, music, colors, styles, venues, and just overall vibes. With this being said, sometimes we can be kind of surprised when we hear about the different traditions that will be done at the wedding.
This couple's wedding invitations struck some people the wrong way when they read their penny-pinching trick when inviting guests. Now, of course, people can do whatever they want at their wedding but they have to understand how some people will react.
This TikToker showed off a wedding invitation she got that really caught people by surprise. If you're like us then you probably have never heard of anyone doing this.
So, we wanted to go through this situation and explain why exactly this couple's wedding got so much attention while also looking at some of the most popular comments on the video. Let's dive in.
This TikToker showed off a wedding invitation that she received where the request surprised her completely.
She shows the invitation that she got sent where at the bottom it reads "Pay for your own meal." So ultimately this couple is inviting guests to their wedding but asking them to pay for their own food when they get there.
I'm sure that this guest wasn't the only one tripping about this.
@kellikeylimepieSo many comments were left on this post explaining how ridiculous this is.
Ultimately if you can't pay for the food at your wedding then you maybe shouldn't be having a wedding, or have different food, or invite less people. No matter what, I don't think that asking guests to pay fort their own food was the right choice.
nadinetillisWe can imagine that a lot of people deciding to decline this offer simply because of this request.
Some people said they wouldn't go and some people even called it tacky that they put this.
ohlawdWe can all feel this comment in our souls because we definitely have never heard of or been to a wedding that was BYOF.
Honestly, we can't imagine that this couple provided anything for consumption for free at their wedding, so it might be BYOB at well. I think as a guest, I'd have a lot of questions.
Melissa AnnHere is the original TikTok video where she shows the wedding invitation and what it says.
I think this is definitely a first for a lot of us and I hope that it doesn't start a new tradition of "BYO" or paying for your own things at a wedding. Ultimately many people are traveling or attending of course for the couple, but some things are almost expected at weddings and food is one of those things.
What do you think about this and would you have attended the wedding?
