The reality of wedding planning is that food and drink typically consume a sizable percentage of your overall budget. The expense of the wedding bar can quickly increase the budget too.

Nowadays, the majority of weddings have a form of an open bar where the newlyweds (or whoever is paying for the wedding) host everything that is served that day. The cost of an open bar is totally determined by what you're providing.

Your caterer, who will be in charge of all the food and beverages served at the wedding, will likely give you a price per head if you decide to purchase a drink package from them. The cost per head will increase as you offer more options. 

An amazing parent decided to pay for their daughter's wedding ceremony with the exception of her wedding dress, veil, and headpiece. Everything has been going smoothly with the wedding planning, and the OP and her husband have stayed out of it politely unless asked for advice or suggestions.

But then, they want a completely open-bar wedding reception with no limit, which the OP said no to. It’s also the only thing they tried to go over budget with, and the OP wasn't having it.

The OP's daughter and fiance got angry over it, saying that the OP was trying to control them and dictate what they did for their wedding, but that wasn't so.
