30 New Yorkers Share Things That Could Only Happen In New York
“A rat boarded the subway at Times Square, waited by the door, and got out at 34th Street”

The city of New York is insane. But it would be unrealistic to expect nearly 8 million people to live in peace and quiet like in a quiet tiny suburb.
However, there is no single way to express how it feels to live there. Although New York City is typically portrayed as a concrete jungle, there is still plenty of natural beauty.
Green space access is something that local leaders are committed to maintaining and increasing. Across the five boroughs, there are about 1,700 parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities.
While Central Park is often referred to as "New York City's backyard," the High Line, a Lower East Side urban renewal project, is swiftly becoming a favorite among locals and visitors.
Numerous world-class museums, a famed theater culture, and a dizzying number of entertainment places can all be found in the city. The adjacent beaches attract sun-seekers in the summer, and the Coney Island amusement park has been entertaining families for decades.
So Dan Saltzstein sent out a tweet a few days ago, inviting all New Yorkers to contribute their personal experiences that perfectly embody the City that Never Sleeps. And they were more than happy to help.
Dan's one tweet quickly grew into a big thread, with each anecdote getting funnier as it progressed, from riding the subway to visiting the Bronx Zoo. We have chosen some of the most interesting replies, and we know you are going to love them. Take a look:

Elie_GoldbergNYC has been immortalized in movies, shows, songs, novels, paintings… It's probably one of the most famous cities in the world and the first city that comes to everyone's mind when talking about the US.
It has inspired people worldwide with its grandiosity and way of life. It's a hectic mix of feelings, logic, business, politics, education, and whatnot.
New Yorkers can be rude and loud and commit totally wholesome acts of kindness out of the blue. You never know what to expect, and that's what its charm lies.
It's not about the buildings, it's about people.
