Social media has become the most powerful marketing tool. Companies, brands, and individuals use different social media platforms to connect with their target audience.
One evolution we didn't foresee is social media being used to establish a "personality" for these different brands. We are now being made to believe that these brands are just people like us.
Remember Subway from Community? This is like that but in real life where companies are slowly personifying themselves to get closer to us.
Who would have thought a good old dictionary can have some sass hidden in between its thick pages? That's right, we're onto you Merriam-Webster Twitter account!
It's a very effective marketing tool. No one does it better than the Wendy's Twitter account which frequently trends because of its spicy clapbacks to tweets.
But other brands are slowly catching up to their methods and hiring their own social media managers to cultivate their brand's online personality. Does it always work?
No, of course, it doesn't. Some brands take it too far and get called out by millions of Twitter users because of their off-color and downright offensive tweets.
When the strategy works, it works really well. Lucky for Nutter Butter, their tweet was safe enough to be appreciated and controversial enough to trend!
Did I ever think a peanut butter cookie will ever say this publicly? Certainly nut.
@NutterButterA looooooot of people and brands jumped on the tweet to express their very valid emotions

@USSGoodGirlNo matter how hard we try to stay away from social media, it permeates almost every aspect of our modern society now. In short, there is no running away from it.
It's kind of funny to watch brands interact and pretend to be people. At the same time, it gives a lot of Black Mirror vibes and Nutter Butter, keep being your nutty self.
