Moving into a new house can be an exciting adventure, but it can also bring unexpected challenges, especially when it comes to dealing with neighbors and their parking habits. One Reddit user found themselves in a sticky situation with their next-door neighbor, who had a habit of parking on their driveway.
OP, a 29-year-old man, and his fiancée, a 30-year-old woman, moved into their new home just a few months ago. During the first week, they noticed a car parked right on their driveway, which didn't belong to them.
When they approached the lady who lived next door, she explained that the previous owner had allowed her to park there, and she hoped they wouldn't mind. Since their driveway was spacious enough to accommodate two cars, they agreed to let her park there for the time being.
However, as time went on, the situation became more complicated. After the couple's son was born, they needed a second car to make transportation easier. Unfortunately, all three cars wouldn't fit in the driveway, so they had to politely inform their neighbor that she could no longer park there.
This decision didn't sit well with the neighbor, and it led to a series of parking disputes. One early morning, the neighbor parked behind OP's car, making it impossible for him to leave.
After knocking on her door to request she move her car, she was annoyed at being woken up. On another occasion, she justified her parking by claiming she was just putting away groceries, and the driveway was closer than her home.
The situation reached a boiling point when the neighbor's car blocked the driveway on the day of the son's four-month check-up. This forced the fiancée to reschedule the appointment, and when they tried to reach the neighbor to discuss the issue, she was unresponsive.
Fed up with the recurring problem, OP called the police to have her car towed. The neighbor later explained that she was at a friend's house a few blocks away, which was why she hadn't responded.

u/The__Riker__ManueverWhile the couple had every right to reclaim their driveway for their cars, there might have been better ways to address the issue.
But, since OP had talked about this with the neighbor multiple times before, it seemed like the only way to solve this issue once and for all, was to have the car towed.
