Many dogs enjoy the rain - those dogs love to play in it, splashing in puddles and catching raindrops. However, for long-haired dog breeds, such as Golden Retrievers, getting drenched in the rain may not be so much fun.

Recently, Morrisons security guard, Ethan Dearman, saw one such dog waiting patiently for his owner outside the supermarket in Giffnock, Scotland. The loyal dog was getting wet during a downpour, so Ethan used his umbrella to shield him.

Naturally, someone posted a photo of Ethan performing the act of kindness for the devoted dog and the internet loved it! Ethan didn't think twice about helping the adorable dog out, saying, "Well, you never know how dogs feel about the rain."

25-year-old tattoo artist, Mel Gracie, from Glasgow, saw the wholesome act from her car and decided to upload a photo to Twitter.

Ethan wasn't concerned about shielding himself; instead, his priority was keeping the sweet dog dry. Not long after the kind act was shared on Twitter, the post went viral.

The photo received over 143,000 likes and more than 20,000 retweets within only a couple of days! Wow!

When the dog's owner, David Cherry, found out that his dog had become famous on the internet, he reached out to thank Ethan for his kindness.

"Thanks to security man @dearmanethan for putting the umbrella over Freddie when it started to rain! So kind! He's always so nice to my brother Stuart, my Dad and our Freddie! Here's Freddie when he was a puppy!" said David in his post.

"Our dog Freddie has went viral after a kind security man put up his umbrella for Freddie when it started raining at the Morrisons near my parents' house. Good community vibes. People looking out for each other. He's always nice to my Dad and brother, it's nice to hear nice things."

Ethan responded by saying, "I knew I was making people smile, but this is something else entirely, lol." What a humble young man!

Not long after, Morrisons retweeted the photo. They also said they had issued 9,000 branded umbrellas to help keep their customers, dogs included, dry.
