Typical Dog Life Is Summed Up Perfectly In This Pug Dog Comic Series
Mochi the pug lives the kind of dog life that practically begs to be turned into a comic. From clingy goodbyes to bath time drama, every little moment seems to become a punchline.
That is exactly what Spanish artist Gemma Gené did after moving to New York and missing her dog so much that she started doodling him at work. Those sketches grew into a full comic series built around Mochi, along with his rescued brothers, Huey and Duey, and the result has clearly struck a chord with dog lovers online.
With more than 338,000 Instagram followers, Gemma's playful drawings have turned everyday pug behavior into a whole story. And once you get to the last comic, Mochi's biggest mood might feel a little too familiar.
1. "Don't leave meeeee!"
Gemma says she has learned a lot about dogs by observing Mochi. "A comment that I get a lot is, 'Do you have cameras in my home? Because my dog does the exact same thing!'" she said.
"As it turns out, what I thought was unique about Mochi is common among many dogs! We accidentally created a very supportive dog-loving community that has gradually grown over time."

3. Mama's boy.
Gemma says the pandemic has been "sad and nerve-wracking," especially because she was unable to see her family for most of the year. "Being away from them has been very hard, and you just want everyone to be safe; it is scary."
Gemma shared the happy news that she's pregnant! "2020 has been a year of changes and preparation for the new family addition, and hopefully, 2021 will be a happy year for everyone," she said.

Mochi really commits to the drama.

As for all of us, 2020 presented certain challenges for Gemma and Mochi. "I work from home, so in that sense, it didn't really change much."
"Only when the parks started closing down was Mochi no longer able to run free and see his friends. Meanwhile, I stopped all the activities I used to do outside the house, but Mochi and the Twinchis loved that."

Even the smallest moments turn into a scene.

And speaking of iconic dog faces, Kabosu the Shiba Inu behind “Doge,” who sadly passed away is a reminder of how loved Mochi-style antics can be.
