Ross Stores Employee Goes Into Mental Breakdown After Mistakenly Giving Customer Way Too Much Change On Her Third Day Of Work

The first day on the job is typically a little nerve-wracking. Perhaps you're worried, "What if the work isn't what I expected?... What if I make a mistake?... What if I don't get along with my coworkers?"

One of the hardest parts of starting a new job is catching up quickly with the rest of your team, especially if you're replacing someone.

Although empathetic bosses recognize and accept the need for a period of adjustment, the firm cannot afford to stall for too long. Thus, new hires frequently experience information overload almost immediately.

This was the situation that TikToker, Melly (official Melly), found herself in as a new employee at Ross Stores. It was obvious by the third day that the pressure of the job was beginning to affect her.

However, the crowning moment came when she gave a customer way more change than she had intended. Consequently, Melly's manager had to chase the customer out the door to sort out the embarrassing situation.

Melly uploaded a TikTok after the incident in which she can be seen holding back tears while snacking away her problems and stating that she was under great pressure.

The caption reads, "It’s my third day at my new job, and I’ve already given a customer 57 dollars when he only needed 34 while my manager chased him down the door. She told me to go take my break ima go kms."

Let's take a deep dive into the story:

The TikTok quickly gained popularity, with more than 300,000 views

Melly received words of encouragement from viewers, who told her that they have done much worse at their workplace, and that she shouldn't worry too much about it.

"We all mess up. I've done the same. It be like that."

After a while, Melly provided a video update on the situation. The TikToker said that her manager confined her to the fitting room for the duration of her shift.

In the text overlay, she expressed concern over her nervousness, stating, "Not me having a mental break down after she stated 'it's ok you be handling the fitting rooms till closing.'"
