Every business firmly believes that customers are always right (even when they're not). I've seen huge signboards in restaurants that read, "Customer is King", perhaps to remind the staff that customers matter more than food or time waste.

The reason for this belief is to trump all and be the boss at the top of the world, standing on the heads of customers and their 5-star reviews. Companies forget their staff is humans who have a life, and that opening and closing hours are just numbers on an official employment contract.

Gone are the days when closing times were respected, as people had other things to do after they left work. Some employers knew how important it was for their employees to have a healthy work-life balance.

Today, things are different. While some companies still believe that employees are humans, others, like the one we're about to read, are all about customer satisfaction, no matter what.

It's good to satisfy your customers. After all, that's how you climb the ladder of success.

But there's a thin line between satisfying customers and abusing employees that companies often cross. Here's a story about a deli employee and a Redditor called SpoodsMcBeef who was caught between a rock and a hard place when a Karen demanded to be served fresh food, minutes before closing.

I'd start the cleaning process at 8pm to be able to leave exactly at 9pm.

That's a very responsible thing to do.
