Workplace relations are vital for the success of any organization. They are the foundation of the work environment and play an essential role in the productivity and satisfaction of both employees and management.
Without good workplace relations, employees will not be motivated to perform at their best, and management will not be able to lead and manage the organization effectively. But what separates good coworkers and friends?
Here is one outtake on that. OP just left a job that they had held for over two years.
During that time, they had become fond of many of their coworkers, but they did not consider them to be friends since they did not hang out or communicate outside of work. On their last day, a former coworker stated that they would miss OP and that they considered OP to be their friend.
OP reminded them that they did not consider them to be a friend since they had declined invitations to hang out and had given excuses that made it apparent that they did not want to spend time with OP outside of work. The former coworker seemed confused, and OP explained that they only considered those they spent time with outside work to be friends.
The former coworker then accused OP of being an asshole for making them upset, even though OP felt that the conversation had been cordial. OP is now wondering if they are the a-hole.

RedditWorkplace relations include all aspects of how employees interact with each other, their managers, and the organization as a whole. This includes communication, respect, trust, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Good workplace relations promote a positive work environment and help foster an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation between all stakeholders. In addition, when employees feel valued and respected, they are more likely to be productive and stay with the organization for a long.
OP was right here- they are not friends with that coworkers. But maybe they should have just nodded and left, not causing further debate.
Perhaps they were holding some grudge and decided to vent on their last day... Who knows
