Even when you're in the most wonderful, loving relationship, chores can be a source of frustration between partners. I mean, no one likes doing chores, right?
For that reason, things like doing the laundry or taking out the garbage can escalate into severe arguments. Not only that but when one half of the relationship starts to get lazy; well, that can cause a whole other set of problems!
Reddit user u/lappisl recently shared her story in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. She explained that her boyfriend deliberately pretends that he doesn't know how to do chores in order to avoid them.
In actual fact, he knows how to do them all perfectly; but he also knows that his girlfriend will step in and do them herself if he screws them up - genius!
By doing this, he is able to blame his girlfriend for setting the housework standards far too high. So, how could the poor guy possibly ever do anything right?
Well, it didn't take long for the Redditor to work out her boyfriend's sly plan. And when she did, she came up with a brilliant idea of her own to call his bluff.
She started "believing" her boyfriend when he said he was making an effort. Keep scrolling to see how it all unraveled from there!
The woman decided to show her boyfriend what life would be like if they began doing things his way.

The woman explained that her boyfriend was pretending to be bad at basic life skills so that she would do everything for him. Apparently, he had forgotten how to be an adult.
Reddit/lappislShe told her boyfriend she didn't appreciate him "forgetting" how to do simple chores.
She was understandably frustrated. After all, she isn't stupid, so how dare he treat her that way?
Reddit/lappislBut he insisted he was doing his very best.
Reddit/lappislSo, she decided to try "believing" him.
It was time to stop being mad and start getting even! Let the mind games begin!
Reddit/lappislShe started doing things his way... and he didn't like it!
Reddit/lappislShe was trying to get over her unnecessarily high cleanliness standards, after all.
Reddit/lappislThe woman didn't back down.
Reddit/lappislAnd her plan worked!

"He's stopped being so lazy about chores after he realized I seem totally okay with leaving stuff done badly and that he'll be living with it," u/lappisl says. It served as a much-needed wake-up call for him.
The woman's post received more than 33.5k upvotes and over 2.6k comments! Clearly, this is not an uncommon issue among couples.
The overall consensus is that the Redditor is NTA (Not The A**hole). But what's your take on it?
