Kensington Palace has provided an update on the health of Princess Kate Middleton following her recent abdominal surgery. In a statement released on Monday, January 29, the palace shared, "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery.

She is making good progress." Kate, aged 42, and her husband, Prince William, expressed their gratitude to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff who provided care.

The statement concluded with, “The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

On January 17, the palace made an official announcement stating that Kate had been admitted to The London Clinic for a pre-scheduled medical procedure. This procedure required her to temporarily step away from her royal responsibilities.

Although the precise nature of her surgery was not disclosed, it was anticipated that Kate would remain hospitalized for a period ranging from ten to fourteen days. Additionally, the palace conveyed that her return to public engagements was not expected until after the Easter holiday.

The statement emphasized Kate's desire for her personal medical information to remain confidential, aiming to preserve a sense of normalcy for her family. On the same day, it was revealed that King Charles III would undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate and was admitted to the same hospital as Kate on Friday, January 26.

According to an exclusive source, Kate has been "taking time to recuperate and cherishing numerous visits from Prince William and their children" in the days after her procedure. The insider hinted that Kate might "consider sharing additional details [regarding the procedure] shortly."

While his wife temporarily steps back from her royal responsibilities, William, aged 41, has embraced the role of a "contemporary father" to their children as she undergoes recovery. (William and Kate are parents to Prince George, aged 10, Princess Charlotte, aged 8, and Prince Louis, aged 5.)

“In years gone by, if a senior member of the [royal] family was ill, their spouse would not drop everything. They’d carry on, and the children would be left with the nanny or nannies. And this time, Prince William has made a very conscious decision he’s going to step back from his duties. He’s putting the family first, and he’s doing that for a very specific reason.” said Robert Hardman, the author of "The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy".

While the challenge for the monarchy amid the dual hospital stays was acknowledged by Hardman, he believes that a solution is in place.  “I think the monarchy will do what it’s always done, which is to adapt. I mean, it has to be agile. That has to change.” he remarked.

The princess is not expected to return to work until after Easter
