"Karen" Mistakes Customer For A Member Of Staff And Creates A Hilarious Situation

Have you ever been mistaken for an employee? It’s a common thing. There is a subreddit called r/IDontWorkHereLady, where people can share their experiences. Some of them are interesting, and some are just plain hilarious, especially in cases where the victim decides to go with the role.

One serial “do you work here?” victim is a Redditor called u/Wiggle_it_loose. He thinks that he has a “retail” face, and that’s the reason he gets into these situations a lot.

This time he ran into a really rude woman, but he was prepared and decided to go along with the role. The woman deserved it because she was rude to one customer before facing him…

The redditor shared this clash with a rude lady who mistook him for a store employee:

The moderators of the r/IDontWorkHereLady subreddit, say that the subreddit “involves stories about folks that go into other businesses and have irate customers mistake them for employees.” They also say that the subreddit, which is basically a “derivative from other subreddits like r/TalesFromRetail,” was formed 5 years ago.

“We get lots of different submissions and moderate them according to suitability.” The rules say you got to “keep it classy” and keep in mind that “people are people, too.” A consequence is that, “Not everything posted remains visible on the sub.”

The moderators added that the subreddit addresses the fact that “even though it shouldn’t be, it’s incredibly common for people to just assume that someone works at a given location and to treat them badly based on that assumption.” But r/IDontWorkHereLady inspires people to blow off steam. “The more outrageous the story, the better!” claims the community.
