When planning a trip with your significant other, it's important to communicate your expectations and desires for the trip. However, what happens when those expectations are suddenly changed by the addition of other people?
One Reddit user found himself in this situation when his girlfriend invited friends to their romantic vacation, leaving him feeling like he was playing second fiddle. He explained that he had planned a ski trip to Colorado with his girlfriend, Sarah, for their fifth anniversary.
He had spent months planning the trip and was excited to propose to her at the end of it. However, just five days before the trip, Sarah dropped the bombshell that she had invited two of her friends to join them.
Understandably upset, OP expressed his concerns to Sarah, explaining that he had planned the trip as a romantic getaway for the two of them. Sarah, however, insisted that her friends had already made plans and could not back out.
While OP could not force Sarah's friends to cancel their plans, he agreed to make some changes to accommodate them. Despite these changes, OP still felt like he was playing second fiddle to Sarah's friends.
He was not able to spend any private time with Sarah and was left feeling like he was on the outside looking in. After three days of feeling like he was in second place, he decided to leave the trip and head home. He explained his reasons to Sarah, who was upset by his decision.
To make matters worse, Sarah told her friends about OP's decision, and they ganged up on him, calling him a jerk and accusing him of ruining the trip. Sarah, herself also thought that he was overreacting and being disrespectful to her and her friends.
However, OP felt that Sarah was the one being disrespectful by inviting her friends on a trip that was meant to be a romantic getaway for the two of them. Scroll down to read the full story and see what the people of Reddit had to say about this situation.

u/PatrickosplayhouseThe responses to OP's post were mixed. Some Redditors felt that he was not being fair to Sarah and her friends and that he should have tried harder to make the best of the situation.
Others, however, sympathized with him and felt that Sarah had been inconsiderate of his feelings. OP put a lot of thought into this vacation so it's understandable that he would be devastated when his girlfriend decided to bring her friends and change everything.
