Are we really surprised?

Dogs are known for being loyal and loving creatures--unlike humans; who are known for being the opposite. The relationships we have with our pets are obviously different from the relationships we have with our partners. For example; dogs often become our best friends; we let them sleep in our beds, eat dinner with them and take long, romantic walks on the beach together. Sound familiar?
However, the love between animals and humans is the most pure of all. There are no complicated feelings or mixed signals; it's just love. Which is why it isn't surprising to hear that people would rather kiss their dogs than their partners.
According to a survey that was conducted by Riley's Organic, 52% of dog owners kiss their pets more than they kiss their partners.
PexelsThe results also revealed that people would rather share a bed with their dog, than their partner.
PexelsUnsurprisingly, 94% of the pet owners surveyed said that they consider their dog to be one of their best friends.
This makes the other results make sense!
PexelsIn fairness, Riley's Organic is a dog food company, so it is likely that their results are a little skewed!
PexelsIt would be interesting to create the survey with a more general sample from the population.
PixabayHowever! Please be aware of your dog's behaviour when you kiss them.
Some dogs may feel threatened or uncomfortable by kissing.
PixabayTake note of how your dogs like to receive affection.
Maybe they love kisses, but maybe they don't.
We don't kiss humans when they don't want to; so why would we do the same to dogs?
