Behold, KFC Has Released The World's First Gravy-Scented Candle

Have you ever looked around your home and thought to yourself, "Boy, I really wish it smelled like KFC gravy in here"? Well, you're in luck, because KFC has just created the world's very first gravy-scented candle!

Now, you may be wondering if anyone would actually want this, or if the idea behind it is purely a PR stunt. Well, the answer to both of those questions is most likely the same - YES!

The KFC gravy candle will only be available in the United Kingdom, due to the chain's growing popularity over there. Getting KFC gravy for Christmas dinner has even become a thing in the UK.

The bad news for anyone wanting to snag one of these unique candles, is there are only 230 of them available. Also, the only way you can get one is to enter a competition and win (which you can do here).

The candle even has its very own video, which includes a male voice enticing us to, “Breathe in the soothing aroma of KFC gravy. It’s all gravy, baby.”

The release of the candles coincides with the The KFChill Experience, a relaxation and mindfulness website using the therapeutic sounds of frying chicken, simmering gravy and falling fries. How soothing!

KFC worked alongside its in-house ad agency, Mother, to create the scent.

A spokesperson for the agency had this to say:

“You’re not dreaming. You really can now fill your home with the incredible aroma of KFC gravy with this limited edited candle… it’s staggeringly nose stimulating.

What an honor it was to create a candle with such a highly-beloved scent.

Initially, the different ingredients within the gravy were split into their constituent parts, and fragrances matched to each. Then the scent was built component by component in the similar ratios as KFC’s iconic gravy.

The artisanal approach to creating the candles was crucial to ensure the familiar and evocative aroma of gravy was perfectly captured.”

Believe it or not, this isn't the first time KFC has used its menu as inspiration to create some interesting non-edible products. In 2016, the iconic Colonel released a chicken-flavored nail polish (in regular and spicy), as a joke for April Fools Day.

Later that same year, KFC introduced a fried chicken-scented candle in New Zealand. However, much like the gravy candle, it was not available to the general public.

Fast forward to 2017, and 100 fried chicken-scented bath bombs were released in Japan. Yum!

People have reacted to the news in various ways on social media. The most common reaction being confusion as to why such a candle needs to exist.

Some folks worried the candle might be dangerous for the, ahem, drunk population.

Others figured it could be a fun way to play tricks on your family or roommates.

And finally, one man issued a warning from personal experience.
