As the pink lines on the pregnancy test danced in celebration, the couple decided to keep the joyful secret tightly wrapped until the close of the first trimester.

They agreed OP’s parents would be the first to know, and a grand reveal was set for Mother’s Day week. Keeping the entire fiasco under wraps was no easy feat; OP’s boyfriend even slipped up to a couple of his family.

The reveal played out beautifully though OP’s mother was upset she wasn’t the first to know. With the announcement out of the way, the couple began gearing up for the gender reveal of a lifetime.

Knowing this meticulous couple, a to-do list was already in the works. The anatomy was already scheduled; all that was left was putting together a registry and keeping their lips zipped till the date of a reveal—a month later.

This also gave ample time for OP’s brother in the military to grace the occasion. When OP casually disclosed the date of her anatomy scan, her mother went into “planner” mode. 

To OP’s dismay, she realized her mom expected to be told the gender the minute the scan was concluded. As the esteemed soon-to-grandmother, she also took it upon herself to plan the reveal.
