When a new baby is born, it's only natural that everyone wants the opportunity to form a bond with the latest arrival. But what if not everyone is the type of person you necessarily want in your child's life?

For Reddit user u/terribrunt, that person is her grandmother, and she shared her story in the r/AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. The OP explained that she is married with three children.

When the Redditor was 15, her mother had a set of twins (a boy and a girl), and was put on bed rest after her c-section. When she needed help, the OP's grandmother would come and stay.

Every morning, the OP's mother would go to check on the twins, and would find the baby boy missing from his crib. It turned out that OP's grandmother was taking him and having him sleep on her chest on the couch.

The Redditor's mother asked her mom to stop, but she refused. Instead, she lied and said the baby girl had rolled out of bed and fallen on the tiles.

Of course, this caused a lot of distress to the OP's mother who was already suffering from postpartum depression at the time. So, for this reason, the OP decided that she doesn't want her grandmother around her new baby.

The OP says her grandmother has been asking to see the baby, but she keeps saying no. The Redditor told her grandmother that she wouldn't allow her to be near her child after witnessing what she did to her mother.

Of course, OP's grandma denied everything and told the Redditor to stop "living in the past." Now the OP is wondering if she's the a**hole here.

What are your thoughts on this situation? Do you think the OP is wrong for keeping her daughter from having a relationship with her daughter, or does her grandmother only have herself to blame for this?

We would love to hear your opinions on this. You can share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
