Art is considered a form of expression where you can convey your ideas, thoughts, emotions, and anything else that will give life to your masterpiece. Through art, you can connect and communicate with other people.
Every piece of artwork has a way of influencing people, just like how this artist named Stephen Beals did in his comics. Stephen created the "Adult Children" comics to make mundane and traumatic experiences humorous for himself and others.
Stephen graduated with a degree in animation from the California Institute of Arts, but even though he loved animation and film, he didn't want to work in the industry. Instead, he wanted to create comics, but he didn't earn enough money from them, so he decided to work in the university library.
He described working in the library as being similar to working in a retail store. Stephen said, "Libraries are similar to retail, except they're free to the public, so everyone is welcome unless they are actively trying to set the place on fire."
Considering his art degree, he left the library to work in advertising and take part-time jobs at large retail stores. However, he realized he was losing his passion for working with people and creating comics because his current jobs wouldn't allow him to, so he finally decided to get back on track and work in a print shop.
He works in one of the biggest printing establishments now, and on this crazy journey of his career as an artist, he creates comics as a way for him to "let off steam" after work. You might want to scroll down and check out his comics to take those stressful days away.
