Yassss, girl.
Let's face it, not all of us an come to terms with this whole "getting old" thing. In our youth birthdays tend to be monumental celebrations and some milestones are even more significant than others. Like turning 13 and becoming a teenager, finally. Or turning 16 because now you probably get to drive a car. There's also your 18th birthday, which is a big deal because most of the time that officially designates you an adult, legally anyway.
Let's not forget when you celebrate turning 21 either, in the United States that means you get to legally purchase alcohol so that's a major celebration for a lot of you. But after that the celebrations tend to sort of... plateau. Instead you have something darker to look forward to.... getting old. Few birthdays signify the end of youth quite like turning 30. It's a symbolic age of adulthood, you have no more excuses for not having your sh*t together. It an be kind of depressing.
In recent years, however, plenty of us approaching our 30's decided that this was a brilliant new adventure worthy of having some fun. We've seen people celebrate turning 30 as if it was their 16th all over again with a huge theme, two enormous balloons (a 3 and a 0, of course,) and oodles of decorations!
Then along comes Mila Blatova of Nizhni Novgorod. She took celebrating a smashing 30th birthday to entirely new levels of "oh no she didn't!" Her brilliant celebration quickly went viral and it's not hard to see why. It is as poignant as it is hilarious and we literally cannot get enough!
Clad entirely in black and surrounded by black balloons, Mila told Unilad what this funeral/celebration meant to her:
It was meant to be a funny way of accepting a new chapter in my life. I was looking for a dark twist on being boujee and super dramatic on my birthday.
She said:
My idea came from not wanting to leave my 20s and acknowledge that I’m now ‘old’.
In fact, since ringing in her 30th birthday, Mila has found that aging helped her see life in a much more positive manner, saying she looks forward to “New adventures, traveling, taking care of my two little boys, and whatever else my life brings me.”
When Mila's sister, who took the photos, uploaded them to the Internet she cheerfully captioned them:
So I asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday and she said “a funeral for my youth” well your wish is my command. HAPPY FUNERAL FOR YOUR YOUTH DAY!!!!
Side note: I know I’m dramatic… but this b**ch takes the cake!
I think it's safe to say the whole family has a sense of humor!
