It’s not just humans that can have fun; animals can too. Every Friday evening, not long before sunset, the commotion of traffic on the streets around Lehigh Acres, Florida, gives way to a sound that is undeniably really satisfying, and that is the lively chorus of joyous dogs having a good time.
It is at this time, similar to clockwork, that a train full of dogs turns up on the streets in order to brighten the days of its fuzzy travelers. After years of operating an animal rescue shelter in Costa Rica, Alice Johnston and her partner, Paul, relocated to Lehigh Acres about eight years ago.
However, they didn't migrate alone. They also brought along with them more than a dozen dogs under their care, all of whom had been rescued from the streets.
Currently, in the suburbs, the Johnstons chose to get innovative. They built a train to accommodate all their dogs and take them on rides.
Alice Johnston says that they have so many dogs and, obviously, they were unable to walk them all or put them in the vehicle to have a good time with them. So she and her significant other built a train with the goal of taking them all out and cruising all over the area.
Her husband pulls the train with a lawnmower, and Alice rides a little bike behind him to watch out for things and ensure they're protected.
The happy pack is an incredible sight.
ALICE E. HERRICKThe couple got the inspiration for the Wonderland Express, as it is called, from a Texas man who built a dig train for his own rescued doggos. Furthermore, the Johnstons' dogs tremendously love their train rides.
Happy times
ALICE E. HERRICKJohnston testified that their dogs get so excited about going on train rides, and they simply love it. They know when Friday comes better than we do, and it's astonishing the way in which they know.
But then again, it’s not only the dogs that are excited about their weekly trips.
Here's the video below
Alice says that they have individuals who hang tight and wait consistently for them to pass by on the street. She even adds that some individuals come out and give treats to the dogs, which they truly enjoy.
Hello, you!
ALICE E. HERRICKYou will agree with me that the Johnstons definitely stand out enough to be noticed, and they put all the attention the train gets them to awesome use. Alice says that her husband has signs all over the train that tell individuals to adopt and not shop.
Let's all go for a ride...
ALICE E. HERRICKShe also added that there are numerous homeless animals, and they make great pets. Anything we can do to urge individuals to give these dogs an opportunity, the Johnstons are more than happy to do it.
The Johnstons' aim is not to publicize their Wonderland Express dog train, but they are happy that people always want to see it.
As far as they might be concerned, everything revolves around their dogs' satisfaction and getting the message out about the joy that comes with adoption. It gives the Johnstons a lot of happiness to know that dogs are getting another opportunity to have a home of their own.
Furthermore, it truly gives them and us fulfillment to know that these homeless dogs are given a life.
