If you're a frequent traveler and hotel stay-er, you already know the loneliness that trips away from home bring. Personally I've never stayed in a hotel by myself before, and my family almost always brings our furry doggo pal along with us.
She helps ease our discomfort away from home and basically grounds us for the duration of our trip. One hotel in Mississippi implemented the perfect way to ease travelers hearts; they offer guests the chance to foster dog's during their stay at their hotel.
Companionship. Isn't that what we're all after?
I can't believe this wasn't a thing before now, because it's bloody brilliant.
Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D'Iberville has been running a program by the name of Fostering Hope since October 2018.
The program brings shelter dogs from the Humane Society of South Mississippi to the lobby of the hotel and then offers guests the chance to foster the animals in their rooms for the length of their stay.
With the main goal being, if the people fostering hit it off with their adorable companions, they can adopt them when they check out of the hotel.
I told you it was bloody brilliant!

home2suitesThis program allows space to be free at the shelter, which takes in about 8,000 dogs a year and adopts out almost 80% of them.
This genius program helps these doggos get the love and help they need and definitely increases their odds for adoption. And considering the hotel specializes in long-term stays, (guests generally book a room for months at a time.) it's the perfect space to utilize Fostering Hope.

home2suitesTeresa Johnston is the bones behind this brilliant idea. She is the hotel's sales director. "We’re an extended-stay Hilton branded property. We have a lot of extended-stay guests with Keesler Air Force Base, Ingalls Shipbuilding and other supporting industries. I could see that our guests were lonely, and I wanted to fill a void for them and at the same time help our community," she spoke of the venture.

home2suites"People love animals and we have many guest that decide to stay at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D'Iberville because of this program," Johnston gushed.
If their guests would like to take a dog home with them from the program, all they need to do is fill out the form the adoption process and pay the 50$ fee at the hotel.
The Humane Society of South Mississippi explained that the program is very open, but they do hold the right to deny any adoption. If that does end up being the case, they will invite people to visit their shelter at another time to possibly find a pet there that suits them better.
To date, at least 34 guests have gone home with a furry new best friend. All thanks to Home 2 Suites Fostering Hope program.

home2suites"We keep doing what we’re doing, our families during the summer love the program and our servicemen and women love the program all year long," Johnston said.
She also added that anyone can implement this program themselves. "It takes a property cheerleader, a strong operations team, and a commitment to the local shelter to find homes for all these animals one at a time. Love what you do!"
The Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D'Iberville definitely deserves a round of applause for all of their aid in helping these lonely pups find forever homes! Consider staying there if you're ever in the Mississippi area!
