In a world that's full of people that each has their own quirks and (multiple) personalities, life can never be boring when you go and mingle out there. However, for some of us who grew up as introverts and were usually pulled by social anxiety, things can go have a different turn for the better, or for worse—depending on how you look at it.
Sometimes, it can be borderline traumatizing. And other times, it can be quite hilarious to look back on how some moments happened in our lives.
That being said, take a look at this story of a woman who admittedly faked a British accent for 12 years, just because of a silly joking mistake that got way out of hand. It all started in high school when she and her friend were just goofing around, talking in random accents, when a group of strangers who were headed for the same summer camp they are about to go into heard them.
One of them approached the girl and told her that her accent was cute, and she didn't want to make him think that she was weird for faking an accent, so that's how this comical story started—or rather, how the lies started. They kept in touch after that and now, 12 years later, the guy is still under the impression that the girl he became friends with is British.
This finally came to a halt when she came out clean, however, it turns out that the guy has pretty much figured out she was only bluffing the accent through the years. Check out the hilarious story below!
"TIFU by faking a British accent for 12 years."
The little white lies added up!
RedditShe finally had the courage to tell him the truth, but it turns out he pretty much knew it all along.
RedditHe was a great friend for not dropping her once he figured out the truth himself, though.
RedditIf you have watched FRIENDS, then you'll know that this is quite similar to that one episode where Ross fakes an accent in a class he teaches, because he became so nervous that a British accent suddenly came out of his mouth. It was definitely a hilarious ride, and this story is quite similar to that moment.

RedditFunny moments like this never happen if it weren't for some split-second decisions that make us look stupid. They're great stories to tell to your family and friends, though!
