Elton John Reflects On His Mortality After Revealing The Long List Of Organs He’s Lost

Elton John, a name synonymous with legendary music and dazzling performances, recently shared a sobering reflection that contrasts sharply with his vibrant stage persona.

At 77, after a lifetime of creating timeless hits and electrifying performances, Elton candidly admitted that he’s not sure how much time he has left. In an emotional moment, he revealed the toll his health issues have taken on his body over the years, including having multiple organs removed or replaced.

For a man whose larger-than-life persona has lit up stages for decades, this acknowledgment of mortality feels deeply human. Ahead of the release of his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, Elton is reflecting on these health challenges more candidly than ever.

Elton’s health struggles are well-documented, from his knee surgeries to the hip operation that forced him to delay his 2021 tour. Interestingly, his vibrant energy on stage masked the pain and difficulties he faced behind the scenes.

The new documentary offers a rare behind-the-curtain look at his final performances, including an intimate moment in his dressing room at Dodger Stadium, where he reflects on his life, career, and the price of decades of stardom.

As the music icon nears the end of his touring days, Elton John, in all his glory, is still determined to go out on his own terms.

Reflecting on his long career, Elton John admits: “It is very tiring. I am used to it. I am a veteran at it but this is where you start to think about mortality.” For a man who has spent decades dazzling crowds, the weight of years and experience is undeniable.

As he glances around at the backstage chaos—the equipment, costumes, and memorabilia that have accompanied him on countless tours—he muses: "I wonder what is going to happen to all of this stuff when I finish? This is the latter time of my life. I don't know how much time I have left."

At almost 80 years old, these thoughts are no longer fleeting. "You think about that more when you get to my age. You think about life and death. You think, 'Well, I just want to be where I want to be now.'"

Now that his iconic Yellow Brick Road tour has come to a close, Elton has stepped back from the grueling demands of life on the road. With a career that needs no further validation, he reflects on the future: will"I don't have to work after this. I work and do records and putting radio shows together but travelling takes so much out of you."

The legendary performer is embracing this next chapter with the same grace that has defined his extraordinary life.

Over the years, Elton John’s health challenges have mounted, with various parts of his body either removed or replaced. His journey through countless surgeries hasn’t been easy, but his resilience remains intact.

Reflecting on the toll time has taken, Elton revealed, “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids, or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee.”

“In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I’m still here. And I can’t thank you [enough]; you’re the people that made me,” he added.

Despite everything he’s been through, Elton’s gratitude to his fans is unwavering. His body may bear the scars of time, but his spirit remains as vibrant as ever. The show, after all, must go on.
