Dog Owner Bursts into a Fit of Laughter when Pet returns from Groomers “Pantless“

Not all dogs need regular grooming, but for the ones that do: it's really important! Regular grooming is about hygiene and health for these seemingly pampered pooches, but that doesn't mean the humans who love their dogs don't also want to have a little fun with it! They often take their furry companions to professional groomers to get the job done right, and will sometimes even request specific styles.

Carli Cunningham lives in Parkville, Missouri with her Newfoundland dog, 4-year-old Ruger. When Carli's normal dog groomer was out of town, she decided to take a chance on a substitute! That's where things went... wrong.

Newfoundland dogs are large, very hairy, and very friendly dogs. Ruger was no exception to the typical delightful furry and pleasant disposition associated with the breed.

However, Ruger got a little too excited about pool time and jumped into the family pool before it was cleaned and ready for entertainment.

Carli told Daily Mail:

He smelled like swamp because, well that's basically what he jumped into. I was planning on just giving him a self-serve wash at the place, but the groomer there said she was super slow and would love to groom him.

Carli knew that Ruger was going to need more than just a good bath, but she didn't want him to be shaved.

I agreed to have her cut his mats out and explained our groomer does a 'teddy cut' where she tapers his fur on his butt down and gets the mats out and thins it.

But things didn't go as planned.

She called me about thirty minutes later and I thought well this can't be good he takes longer than that. I spoke with her on the phone and she recommended 'starting over to the skin.'

Carli really didn't want Ruger completely shaved, but she understood the groomer had their own ideas about what would be best.

I asked if she wanted to skin my Newfoundland with his double coat and she said yes because it'll be easier. I told her it's okay if there's patches and more skin on his legs because that'll grow back quick but I do not want him completely shaved.

Well I think she just got fed up with me and decided to give him pants.

When Carli saw Ruger's "all done" look, she was beside herself with laughter. And it's not hard to see why.

Carli said:

Ruger came running out of that back room as if he was the other man in a cheating woman's house. The damage was done and I was so mad I laughed, a lot.
