Entitled customers are some of the most unreasonably demanding people on Earth. It takes a herculean amount of effort to satisfy their need to be treated like the most important person in every room they enter.
Nothing changes even when they are asking for free service. A certified dog trainer put up with their antics far longer than he should have.
The trainer took on free cases to establish himself as a reputable dog handler. More than that, he was truly passionate about rescued dogs.
Demanding pet owners started messaging him for free consults in the middle of the pandemic. The trainer spent countless hours using every bit of his knowledge to help owners and pets alike.
He tailored training plans specific to each case. He endeavored to help solve behavioral problems without meeting these people or their pets.
Ungrateful pet owners responded to his efforts with hostility. They complained about his slow turnaround time when they should have been thanking him for attending to their cases for free.
The trainer reached his breaking point. He wrote a Facebook post telling these demanding pet owners to look for another dog handler to abuse.
He decided to focus on his paying clients. His free services will be reserved for charities and friends who value his expertise.
At his calibre, the dog handler actually charged reasonable rates. It's too bad that entitlement can't be exchanged for cash.
u/isthisastudentyplacePeople deserve to be paid their worth after doing their best to be experts in their field
rolandonsIf you can't put in the effort to train your dog or pay someone to train it for you, then you might not be fit to be a pet owner
isthisastudentyplaceEntitled people do not understand or respect the concept of paying. It's job they can't do themselves, but believe it's not that hard and, for some reason, doesn't deserve reasonable pay
[deleted]The trainer wasn't even trying to overcharge anyone. He was just done with choosing beggars taking up most of his time.
MightGetFiredIDK, iamreeterskeeterThey took advantage of his kindness and ruined it for others who might actually need help with their pets but can't yet afford it
ZederikusFocusing on charity work meant that the trainer didn't have to deal with snooty entitled pet owners
CasualNaga, isthisastudentyplaceCharging even the smallest amount weeds off demanding entitled people. Try it on Facebook marketplace.
nocookieforme, MistressPhoenixSaying something is free makes entitled people go feral. They use it as an opportunity to make the most unreasonable request to feel special.
MordociHe has a special whistle to train aggressive owners
goodworkingorderThe irate customers he dealt with had no idea about the amount of work that goes into training dogs with behavioral issues
z0mbiegrlTheir situation isn't a factor. They had no right to berate someone who was simply trying to help without a fee.
newiseesqMost people like to believe that they are strong negotiators. If they can make someone jump through hoops for $0, they would be delighted.
IShallWearMidnightRedditors and one of the trainer's friends were happy he finally saw his worth
Omnix_2Personally, I don't trust pet owners who don't do the required due diligence to prepare for their pets. We owe it to them to be as equipped as possible to give them the best life.
If we aren't capable of that, there are experts like this trainer who are willing to help us navigate the new terrain. Belittling and insulting them to the point that they have to make a public post to ward off people like you is just shameful.
