Adorable Dog Proudly Shows His Mom The Mess He Made While She Was Gone

While we firmly assert that all dogs are good dogs, sometimes our good dogs do naughty dog things. Most dogs express some sentiment of shame when they're naughty, but obviously... not all dogs.
Casey Lewis was volunteering at the Norfolk SPCA in Virginia when she met a dog named J.J. She wanted to adopt a dog for quite some time, but she was waiting for the right one.
When the volunteer coordinator introduced her to the charming dog, she knew instantly that this is it. The adoption papers were done by the end of that day.
"It was love at first sight, and he came home with me that day … the SPCA still tells our story," Lewis told the reporters.
J.J. has been living with Casey for over three years now, during which the dog has absolutely caused a lot of mess. He is very strong-willed dog and loves to stick his nose into things that are none of his business.
"Last year, he destroyed six boxes of tissues, tore down the baby gate for the first time, and got into the steel, pedal-operated trash can … cleanup took over an hour … But I love him, and I wouldn't trade him for anything," Casey said.
The "naughty" dog himself:
Casey LewisAll that destruction will exhaust a dog.
Casey LewisA few days ago, Lewis had to go to work but couldn't take J.J. to a dog daycare. She believed (hoped) he'd be fine home alone and secured all things she thought might spark a demolition spree.
She went off to work that day, hoping that she will not find her house in a total mess. Her hopes were all in vain…
"What I found when I got home was a MESS," Lewis said. "He'd torn six boxes into shreds of various sizes, from recognizable to fingernail-sized. He'd also pulled down the wooden baby gate in the kitchen and managed to move the storage tower that held it in place. A large chunk had broken off an already-broken corner of the gate. I was lucky he didn't decide to go for the trash."
Doesn't your heart melt for dog smiles?
Casey LewisAs Lewis watched in disbelief the mess she now had to tidy up, J.J. stood there self-importantly with the biggest smile. He was obviously very excited to reveal the "contemporary art project" he'd finished while she was gone.
"He's always proud of his messes — 'guilty beagle' is an oxymoron," Lewis told the reporters.
Eventually, Lewis cleaned up the mess J.J made, utterly aware that there will be many more similar incidents in the future. The dog just loves to discover and express himself, and even though it can get messy sometimes, it's all part of his charm.
