The house owner also has a husky who can get very territorial and will be defensive when other dogs come into the yard.

While many of us would want our dogs to have the space and freedom to run around as they please, that is often not the case we're presented with. More often than not, we have to keep them within the borders of our apartments or homes because that's the proper thing to do.
Not only will that keep them safe from getting run over or picked up by people with bad intentions towards them but it will also help keep the peace with your neighbors. They won't be digging up other people's yards, making a mess of other people's homes, or even getting into trouble with other dogs.
Fences can do the trick sometimes, however, some dogs don't see it as an obstacle and well, that can cause problems like in the case of Redditor LycheeSolid1440. They and their neighbors both have more than one dog and they share one side of the fence with each other.
Usually, this would be enough to keep the dogs from getting at each other, however, one of the dog's neighbors has a talent for jumping over the fence. And while OP has mentioned it to their neighbor, it seems like their neighbor isn't doing anything about it.
Read on for the whole story.
OP asks:
LycheeSolid1440The problem is that one of OP's dogs is territorial and can hurt another animal or dog that goes into their yard
LycheeSolid1440However, the neighbors don't seem to mind that their dog is making a habit of jumping into other people's yards
LycheeSolid1440Understandably, many people in the comments section feel a lot of sympathy for OP. The fence is there for a reason and while OP's dogs might seem okay, nobody knows what they're going to do with a dog jumping into their yard.
OP's concern is also mostly for the other dogs as well. She just doesn't want anyone to get hurt.
Here are the top comments.
1. If talking doesn't do the trick, an altercation might be needed

Sufficient_Ad_605113. If they won't do anything about it, a third party needs to be called in

diagnosedwolf15. How can you convince other people to put in a bit more effort when they even haven't done the bare minimum?
Realistic-Choice-67716. They can't wait for an accident to happen before they start acting on it
Realistic-Choice-67717. While it's not OP's dogs that are inciting any conflict, they can still get hurt in any that may arise with the other dogs' trespassing
CollegeEquivalent60718. The fence might not need repair but it needs altercation to prevent any more dogs from being able to jump over
Realistic-Choice-67719. OP can't wait until they're proven right that something bad may happen before they do something as well
Moderate-Fun20. The neighbors might listen to people who can force them into doing something
unionmom4Fencing in your pets or putting a lead on them isn't being cruel when it's done in the name of their safety as well as the safety of other pets and people. It's also part of being a responsible pet owner.
Dogs don't think the way humans do and sometimes, they can put themselves in danger with their actions so it's up to us to watch them and make sure they're always safe. The responsibility is always on us.
