Dog Gets A Tiny Paper Cut, But His Reaction Is Breaking The Internet

All those who hate paper cuts, please raise your hand. I'm sure most of us have experienced the dreaded paper cut, because we know how agonizing it is.

But we're not alone. What you're about to see is a dog's reaction to getting a paper cut.

But have you ever wondered why even the tiniest paper cuts hurt like daggers? According to science, our face, hands, and fingertips are densely populated with tiny nerves and nerve endings.

Even the slightest cut on our face, hands, and fingertips can have us twitching in pain because each nerve ending lights up pain receptors that send warning signals to our brain, leading to a panic. Since our face, hands, legs, and fingers also have more blood supply, even a tiny paper cut can make us bleed.

If you think you've had worse paper cuts, think about people who suffer nerve damage and/or fibromyalgia. They have it even worse.

People with nerve damage may not even feel a paper cut when it happens and since they're unaware of the damage, they risk the chances of a full-blown infection. You'll treat a paper cut only when you feel it, but people who can't feel it can't begin to heal from it.

It's complicated. Either way, here's a story about Jaqweenie, an adorable pup with a paper cut!

Meet Jaqweenie!

Jaqweenie is a happy little pup who loves going out with his mom, Jean Mosher, especially to dog parks. On one such visit, Mosher witnessed Jaqweenie's Oscar-worth performance.

She saw him playing with his friends, but just moments later he stopped and sat down. The dogs he was playing with all went back to their humans in confusion, but Jaqweenie, well, he sat frozen in place.

It wasn't long then that he started trembling.

A hurt pup...

Mosher said, "Jaqweenie was just sitting by himself a distance away, and I knew something was wrong. I went over, and he was shaking and panting and curling his little foot up."

People began gathering around poor Jaqweenie.

Naturally, people who'd witnessed the entire thing began walking towards Jaqweenie to ensure he was okay. They wanted to know what went wrong and why he was curling his paw.

Mosher said, "I assumed it was a terrible injury because he’d been in so much pain the first year of his life. I thought he had a higher pain tolerance."

Here's Jaqweenie's ordeal caught on video

You see, Mosher fell in love with Jaqweenie about three years ago when she visited a shelter.

She says, "It was December, and he was the only dog wearing a jacket because he was so cold. And I saw him through the slats in the fence, and he was just so cute."

"You could also kind of tell he was going to be a jerk based on his face … and I just immediately fell in love with him and had to adopt him."

Jaqweenie's sassy expression...

According to Mosher, when he was a puppy, Jaqweenie had to have some teeth removed due to his misaligned jaw and after teeth removal, he underwent surgeries. Naturally, she thought he had a high pain tolerance.

Thanks to his large overbite, we get to see his sassy reaction to what went wrong at the dog park. Nevertheless, Mosher was worried and thought something really bad must have happened to his paw, given his extreme reaction.

She called three vets in the area and luckily one of them was willing to check his paw out immediately.

At the vet's office...

Mosher said, "We rushed him over there, and that’s when we discovered nothing was wrong."

The vet inspected Jaqweenie's paw, but even after a thorough examination, he couldn't figure out the source of the pup's extreme discomfort.

Mosher requested the vet to recheck Jaqweenie's paw, and that's when they found out what caused the dog so much anguish.

It was a paper cut.

Mosher said, "She checked again and found a cut so tiny that it didn’t bleed. She said it was essentially a paper cut."

Although the cut was too tiny to require any bandage, Mosher requested Jaqweenie's paw be bandaged so it makes him feel better. It cost Mosher $150 to get Jaqweenie's teeny tiny paper cut examined.

However Mosher was relieved that Jaqweenie was fine given the dramatic reaction he staged at the dog park.

She said, "It seemed to make him feel seen and taken care of..."

And the Oscar goes to...

As soon as they reached home, Jaqweenie continued to act hurt by limping around the house and demanding treats, pets, and cuddles for being such a brave boy.

Mosher said, "He had the bandage for a full 24 hours, but the next night he took it off himself and was walking perfectly fine. I assumed he was so tough from being a stray the first year of his life, but I think he’s gotten a little soft..."

Mosher loves Jaqweenie to the moon and back, so it's natural to think that he's the apple of their eye, but now she knows his dramatic expression talent to continue being the center of attention!

She said, "He’s the funniest dog. He’s super sweet, but he’s got that 'Jaqweenie First' policy."

"So he’s a nice guy — but he’s kind of spicy."
