There's plenty of work to be done when it comes to owning pets and a lot of people don't expect that when they decide to get one. It's important to take care of your pets properly because you'll be damaging their health if you do not provide the care that they require, so if you aren't sure if you have the time necessary to do that, don't get a pet.
Cats don't usually require too much time to be cared for properly and one of the biggest time consumers when it comes to taking care of cats is to regularly clean out their litter box.
Even if it's the biggest time consumer, it still doesn't take too much work to keep a clean place for your cats so there are no excuses for the guy in this Reddit story who rarely cleaned his cat's litter box.
This Reddit user shared her story about her boyfriend who would never clean out his cat's litter box, and when she tried to call him out for it, they got into a big fight. They lived together at one point and she owned 2 cats before moving in together, so she took them as her responsibility.
After they stopped living together and moved to different places, he got 2 cats as well and while he feeds them regularly and plays with them, for some reason, their litter box was disgusting. She couldn't handle the rancid smell that would greet her every time she came over so she started helping out each time she visited, but the boyfriend didn't like that.
He would always get annoyed by her attempts to help because they were his cats and they were his responsibility. She told him that someone has to since he was not doing it and they got into a big argument over it.
The last time she went over she saw mold in the litter box and she had to snap at him but he just told her to mind her own business. She wasn't sure if she was crossing the line with her meddling so she turned to Reddit for help.
The first time he was left alone with her cats, he didn't touch the litter boxes for the entire week.
u/m0dernslothShe didn't mind because they were her cats, but the smell that came from his cat's litter box drove her crazy.
u/m0dernslothHe would never let her help him with the litter box because he believed that it was responsibility, even though he never touched it.

u/Geekrock84These cats are being forced to live in filth but the owner doesn't seem to care about his health either, considering he let the litter box get moldy. The overwhelming smell of ammonia isn't helping either.
The people of Reddit are saying that she had every right to go off on him, but do you feel the same way?
